I know it was reported awhile back that the G70 would not be getting an N variant. However it seems that a performance model may still be under consideration, just not under Hyundai's new N sub-brand. Maybe the G70 will be getting the naturally aspirated 5.0l V8 from the G80 and G90? 420hp and 407lb-ft of torque. https://www.carscoops.com/2019/01/genesis-working-high-performance-g70/

Genesis will always appeal to people looking for an affordable option so I don't understand the whole "sway buyers from BMW and Benz" that every article throws in..
I've seen people buy other hot sedans like the Lexus IS-F and move to an M3 once they make more money.

Glad to hear that Genesis may be reconsidering this kind of trim. I don't know if they need to necessarily throw in a V8 as I would imagine they still have plenty of tuning they could do on the 3.3 V6. Larger turbos, bigger intake and a remap could go a long way.

Have not really been impressed with anything Infiniti has been producing as of late. I do like the looks of their new QX Inspiration Concept, but they couldn't even get it drive onto the stage at the Detroit Auto Show.

Its not just us too, many others think alike and it might be why Infiniti partnered with Mercedes on the QX30.

Now I'm seeing conflicting reports that there wont be a high performance model to rival that of the M3. If it does happen, it doesn't look like it will be for this generation. caranddriver.com/news/a26013612/genesis-no-high-performance-g70

Genesis will get more serious a performance variant if the G70 if it gains early traction on the market. The biggest obstacle that will prevent this from happening is their dealer network and availability of models.

I'll need to be convinced that Genesis can do that.

I say that because the G70 sits on the old G80 platform :| and that begs the question of how performance oriented the G70 actually is.

It turns out that I was on the ball. A similar situation played out with the second generation Lexus IS till the 2nd half of its production cycle at which point Lexus launched an F version.

From the head of Genesis:
"We're trying to set our base. We have to get the basics," replied Manfred Fitzgerald, the global head of Genesis, when asked about the possibility of a performance-oriented sub-brand by Car & Driver.
and the Left Lane news also confirming the focus on volume being priority:
It must be difficult to resist asking Biermann to turn the G70 into an M3-fighting super-sedan, but Genesis wants to focus on expanding its line-up with volume-oriented models before it starts chasing 'Ring times.
if anyone needs help in connecting the dots I suggest reading this article: https://leftlanenews.com/genesis/genesis-rules-out-amg-like-performance-sub-brand/
