Alexander Selipanov, the man behind the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept and the Bugatti Chiron, was snagged by Genesis to become the brand’s new Chief Designer at the Global Genesis Advanced Studio in Europe.

Known in the industry as Sasha, Selipanov earned a transportation design degree at the Art Center College of Design in California. After joining VW’s design center in Potsdam, Germany, he has contributed to the exterior design of a few sports cars under the Volkswagen Group including the Lamborghini Huracan.

“I am sincerely excited about this opportunity, because it will be a new chapter in my career. As I have been working with well-established brands so far, Genesis is a new and refreshing challenge to me,” Selipanov said. “In addition, I am also honored to join this exciting journey, as it is a very rare chance to launch a luxury automotive brand and be part of its history. With growing expectations and curiosity around Genesis, I cannot wait to contribute my expertise and passion to the brand.”

Genesis is gearing up to take the automotive world by storm. In addition to acquiring Selipanov, the brand has hired Sang Yup Lee, a talented designer with an impressive resume including previous stints under Pininfarina, Porsche and most recently Bentley.

We can expect to see bold new designs from Genesis with these new talents working on future models.

33 years old with being the guy behind the Vision Gran Turismo Concept and the Chiron. This guy is talented. Now to score being the Chief Designer at the Global Genesis Advanced Studio in Europe. That's insane, but congratulations to him. I'm sure having someone of the younger age will definitely bring some great visions to the designs.

As great as this is what he produced will still have to be green lighted by execs at Genesis, still, i'm looking forward to what will come to production that has his involvement. But often brands get people like this and in the end its not all hyped up as its made out to be.

Sometimes it's the execs that hinders design progress, but hopefully they'll give Selipanov a bit more leeway than most because the Chiron is a work of art and Genesis needs a more updated look to match their new status as a separate brand.

We can only hope. I'm sure we can expect some great ideas from him. Even if he can just add that extra flare that's needed to make Genesis products stand out, it'll be something. A change of imagination is a great thing sometimes.
