This just seems like the next logical step for the Genesis brand because its competitors are also coming out with their own hybrids and electric vehicles. Perhaps the Genesis luxury aesthetics may not work as a full electric, but hybrids are just as popular these days.

We're at the point that some car makers can skip hybrid and go right to EV and now with the Genesis brand being new and already taking on a unique direction I think it will be hard guessing which they'll do first or not even do at all.

Or they can go for a full range of hybrids and EV for the Gen 70 like the Hyundai Ioniq. Give people more options to choose from, though hybrid may be the first one to come as it has the increased fuel economy without the range anxiety.

You have a point. I was on greencarblog the other day and see a report mention they need an intermediate green car before making bigger leaps and part of that move will be with introducing PHEV's. These days a lot of PHEV's are showing up which could signal that Genesis will follow in that lead.
