Kelley Blue Book has posted up a detailed comparison between Genesis new sports sedan and the established C-Class. They found in terms of value for your money that the G70 is a better buy, with its great list of standard kit and an incredible warranty package. It is however at a disadvantage with brand recognition and a prominent dealer network. Sadly at the end of the day people will look at both badges and pick the C-Class even if the G70 is the better buy. If the C-Class asks for too much, A-Class or CLA it is.

Brand bias is a big factor.

The G70 has been developed for those that are budget conscious and looking for something that's less expensive to maintain. Owning a C-Class or CLA out of warranty is going to put a hole in your pocket.

Even though Genesis does have the advantage, where they don't is with Lexus that sells far more models and shares parts among a wider range.
What this means for the long term are cheaper and easier to access parts.

While there will be some new owners coming over from competing brands, many will probably be current or previous Hyundai owners. Badge bias comes into play with any new vehicle launch, and there will always be a risk with buying in early.

I often see people using Genesis and other entry-level brands as just that and move onto more sophisticated companies when they make more money.

The engine that's being used in the G70 has already proven itself in the Stinger over the past two years. So the typical concerns of a new powertrain aren't as much of a concern here.

I haven't seen the specifics but even when the same base engine is used there are a multiple of ways to create different versions which can result in different experiences.

Outputs are nearly identical so even the tune that's being used is fairly similar. Its not the most fuel efficient engine but that's not why you'd be buying a car like this.
