Genesis G70 crash test

As someone big on safety, the G70's amazing crash test results (5 stars) that made it a top safety pick, is one reason why i'm dead set on buying.

I never factored in safety ratings, crash test results and the overall safety tech offered into my vehicle purchase decisions. In recent years that changed as more advanced systems become available, Genesis became part of that with the G70 as a leader in and around its segment.

Late 2018 I recall crash test results being released by vehicle safety assessment programs in Australia, (ANCAP) Korea (KNCAP) and the United States (IIHS only, no NHTSA just yet) and ever since i've been amazed at the G70's construction that ensures some of the best occupant production in impacts (+80% in all tests), but not so much to pedestrians (69%).

ANCAP's G70 technical report breaks down the details of how all types of occupants are impacted. I recommend you read it.

In the various crash test videos here you can see how those numbers play out.
This, along with knowledge of the new advanced safety systems and how they work should keep you confident behind the wheel. The frontal crash prevention systems is one of the best, rated at "superior" by the IIHS

Only downside I can see is if you're a taller adult in the rear. Its where the BMW 3-Series beats the G70. Aside from that and child seat latches that take more time and effort, there's no compromise here.

As more autonomous-like safety tech finds its way to the G70 these ratings should improve even more!
