I plan on buying a g70 very soon. Should I be worried? Dark Chrome and roof rattle.

So I’m very close to making the decision to buy a 3.3t sport. Likely a 2020 model, maybe a 2021. I’ve read about the dark chrome issue that some people are having. Should I be worried about the dark chrome being a for sure issue down the road of my purchase? I’ve also heard about the sunroof rattle. What are my chances that I won’t have to deal with both?

My '21 3.3T Sport has just over 11,000 and I haven't had either of those problems. The only problem I've had is one of the cameras in a wing mirror quit.

If you're referring to the dark chrome becoming stained looking, it's easily cleaned up with polishing compound and then maintained with spray wax. My 2020 that had been on the road for a year before I bought it had stained black chrome, cleaned right up.
I have not had any issues with the black chrome. You can always polish it if necessary. Put wax on it it will help keep water spots and other contaminants off.

Hi, I am have is issue with the gold colored chrome ( 2019 G70 Sport) It looks some type of glue or sticky substance, kind of like as if it had a file rap on all the chrome and when it was pull off the glue stuck to the chrome? I scrubbed a small portion and it came off but took a lot of effort to clean a two inch area... Wondering if I should take the car back to the dealership?

thanks for any feedback you may have.

All of my 2019 G70 sport trim had to be replaced due to it looking cloudy and stained. Tried various polishing compounds but this did not work. Was told that Genesis used cheap metal to produce this trim. Still love the car.

I thought I was the only one experiencing the cloudy/stained look impacting the gunmetal colored trim until I read this thread. I was thinking it was because I take my G70 to the car wash weekly, sometimes twice a week. However, so far it is only easily noticeable on the trim on the right side of my G70. Did you have to come out of pocket to replace all of your trim, or did the dealership cover it?
The trim probably can't deal with the high pH of machine car wash soap. I only wash by hand using a high quality pH neutral car soap.
The stainless steel trim around the windows was jacked on my car, but my Wife and I got that polished out.

The chrome issue is from the factory plastic shipping protectant wrap. The correction is a TSB and the dealer will rectify.
As for car wash issues, I run a car rental fleeting facility and run my car through the was about twice a week. No problems whatsoever.
My sunroof has zero rattles.
I also have dark chrome and had trouble cleaning it. It's good that a friend gave advice to use the cleaning instructions Car steam cleaning process | What is car steam clean? using steam clean for car this method has a lot advantages and the main one is efficiency, there is also no need to use harmful chemicals and after exposure to steam, chromium is not damaged.
